Mariuca B. Bala – An Artist Rooted in Valais

A Valaisanne at heart, self-taught and descended from a line of women artists, I grew up in an environment where creativity played an important role.

My first exhibitions took place in Geneva in 2004, when I mainly painted female figures. When I moved to Valais, the Queens of the Hérens cattle breed naturally became my new subjects of choice, reflecting, in their own way, the women of today.

Following my last exhibition in Crans-Montana in 2011, I put my artistic practice on hold to focus on growing my family.

In 2024, I returned to creating art, exploring new techniques and a renewed approach, before exhibiting my work again in 2025.
